School Supply Drive 2013
It's time to start to plan for the 2013 T&E Care School Supply Drive! The collection period will be from Monday, July 15 through Monday, July 29. Information on specific needs and requests will be available the morning of the 15th. Over 200 students have already been identified by counselors as possibly needing help - this is a significant increase from last year, so we'll certainly need your help!
If you would like to help with the sorting (at Conestoga High School on Thursday, August 1) , or if you could help deliver items from the collection locations to one major location during the collection period, then please let us know at schoolsupply@tecare.org. We can always use a little extra help!
Also we still need one more collection location. We're looking for someone in the Devon area - somewhere near Kmart or the Horse show, or DES - in that general area. It's helpful if you have a covered area where people can drop off supplies, and you'll be home most of those 2 weeks. Please contact us at schoolsupply@tecare.org if you can help out.
If you want to get involved now - we are starting to collect gift cards for the drive. Along with the school supplies, we like to give each family a few gift cards so they can get some extra food (Wegmans, Acme, Pathmark) or general supplies like new underwear, socks, shoes, toothpaste, etc. etc. (Walmart, Target, Kmart) for the kids. Increments of $25 are best for us. Gift cards can be mailed to us at: T&E Care, attn: SSD, PO Box 2111, Southeastern, PA 19399. They can also be dropped off to Beaumont ES - in an envelope in the main office (This option is only available through June 14.) For security reasons, please send us an email at schoolsupply@tecare.org to alert us that they are coming.
Check out our School Supply Drive page! More information to come soon! THANKS for any support you can offer!!
Thanks for the support! Many thanks to the Newcomers of Great Valley for their recent support of T&E Care with a charity fundraiser. Pictured is Karen Bossan presenting the check to T&E Care President, Sandi Gorman. Karen organized the event for the Newcomers club. Current president of Newcomers is Sarah Culbert. It's so great to have partners like this in our efforts to support local families!
SPECIAL NEEDS FOR LOCAL FAMILIES
If you have the ability to help with any of these VERY important needs for a few of our local families - please let us know. The power of "community" can often make the impossible possible!
Kids or Baby Items: Nothing at this time
Appliances/Furniture: Please contact us if you can help with any of these:
5/20/13 - a family has asked for a double bed (whole bed needed); they MIGHT be able to fit a queen bed into the room, but for sure a double would work.
6/11/13 - a senior citizen has asked for a couch - she can handle any size.
6/11/13 - a family needs a desk and/or a bookcase.
Clothing:We know the clothing drive has recently occurred - but there are a few new requests for clothes:
6/11/13 - a family has 3 kids who need some summer clothing:
Middle school girl: tops (juniors 4/M), pants/shorts (4/small)
Middle school boy: tops (men's small), pants/shorts (30 Waist/medium)
(See Donating Cars and Services page for more information.) We know of a numerous local families who are desperate to get a "new" car. Some of these families currently have cars, but the cars are FALLING apart and unsafe to drive. If they lose the car, they lose their jobs. They can't pay their rent without getting to work. The cycle begins. Getting a "new" car will stop the tailspin before things get out of control. Some families RIGHT IN OUR AREA have no car and this is limiting their housing and job options because they can only look for housing and jobs on a transportation line. If you have a car that works well that you would like to sell cheap or donate to a local family, please let us know. We will work with you on applying for a tax deduction for this donation. This would be a great opportunity to get a special tax deduction while truly changing a family's life.
If you can help out with anything requested on this page - please email us at help@tecare.org. THANKS!
Making a donation to T&E Care in lieu of a gift
Are you struggling to think of the perfect gift for the person on your list who has everything? Consider making a donation to T&E Care in his/her name? This option is always available - at the holidays or anytime of year. Information on making donations to honor others can be found on our donations page. A letter will be sent to your recipient alerting them of your kind donation (or we can send a card to you for you to wrap and give yourself).
Thanks for considering this option.

Many THANKS for the recent donations ....
June 2013 - It's easy to have faith in our countries future when we get notice of donations such as this. Leo Guillen, a NEES student, decided to hold a bake sale for T&E Care, and sent us a donation of $120! He said he more than doubled his goal! Wow - how great is that! Congrats Leo for your efforts!
June 2013 -The Devon ES 4th graders (Dave Hyett - leader) - in May they ran a mini-collection drive for us to jump-start our summer efforts. Great job DES students and families!
June 2013 - Birthdays are special times, but for two local boys - the special times were for T&E Care - more than for the boys! Instead of asking for gifts, they asked for donations to T&E Care! Extra special thanks to Conner Sullivan and William Delaney for being so generous on their special days!
May 2013 - Polka Dots ran a shopping day for T&E Care earlier this month - and we've received our payment. Thanks so much to Polka Dots for all their support and to all those who shopped that day! What a wonderful idea!
May 2013 - the Newcomers of Great Valley recently did a charity event for T&E Care which resulted in a nice donation to our organization. What a great surprise this was. Special thanks to Karen Bossan for her efforts in organizing this!

April 2013 - Many thanks to the WW Smith Charitable Trust for offering a grant to T&E Care! The funds will certainly be put to good use!!
April 2013 - The 2nd annual T&E Care Kids Clothing Grab Bag was a huge success again. A list of all those to be thanked can be found on our grab bag wrap-up page, but special hats off to St. Matthews United Methodist Church of Valley Forge for hosting this event for us. The staff there was incredible! Such hospitality we've never felt before! Special recognitions as well to Panera Bread (Gateway), Starbucks (Wayne) and Pizza Land (Chesterbrook) for providing food to feed the volunteers! Also thanks to Paoli Hardware Center for providing the large trash bags needed for left overs (which went to Cradles to Crayons!). Special groups including NHS and Key Club of CHS, the CHS girls softball and field hockey teams, HES first graders, and Brownie Troops 42062 (HES) and 41242 (BES) were also fantastic in helping out! The list is longer - check HERE for more names!
April 2013 - Much appreciation from two area churches for recent donations to T&E Care - Berwyn United Methodist Church and the Church of the Good Samaritan. It's always wonderful to have partnerships with these groups!
April, 2013 - Thanks to the local Staples (Gateway) for giving us a great deal on our recent computer purchase for a number of CHS seniors heading off to college. We bought 15 laptops, printers, and assorted accessories for these kids and were able to get a much needed discount from Staples. It's wonderful to partner with a local merchant on something this important!
March 2013 - Thanks to FLITE (The Foundation for Learning in TE) for awarding us a grant to be used to purchase some of the backpacks and flash drives needed for our upcoming School Supply Drive.
March 2013 - Brownie Troop 4161 has done it again - 10 more birthday bags showed up recently. We've been handing out the first group - and everyone is so excited to receive them!
February 2013 - thanks to McKenzie's Brew House in Devon for donating some gift cards to T&E Care that we can offer to a family that needs a special night out. We really appreciate this gesture by them and know some family will be thrilled!
January 2013 - The 8 members of Brownie Troop 4161 recently donated 10 birthday bags to T&E Care - to help a struggling family enjoy a special event. What a great project!
Jan 2013 - We were honored again to be part of the St. Luke Lutheran Church alternative gift program this past December, and recently received a wonderful check from this program! Thanks to St. Luke for this special gift.
