Summer Camp Assistance 2011
for Tredyffrin & Easttown residents
NOTE 6/18/11 - NO new T&E Care applications for summer camp assistance will be taken as of this date. There are still plenty of low cost camps and vacation bible schools that are options for you children. The camp list above gives lots of information about those and other camps. T&E Care has exhausted the budget we had available for this program. NO new applications for rides will also be accepted. We have finished coordinating that program.
Spring 2011
T&E Care will again be offering some assistance (providing we have funding available) if any of your children are interested in going to summer camp this year - and you would struggle to afford the tuition fee. Please keep in mind the following:
- If you are interested in this assistance - you must commit to REGULAR attendance by your child(ren) at the camp. We cannot ask the community to cover the fees for this program, or to help with your transportation, only to have the children not attending regularly.
- T&E Care is willing to help with around $200 PER CHILD toward a camp experience - as long as we have funds available in our budget. We expect this program to be very popular - so the sooner you let us know of your need, the more likely we'll have the funds to help. You will need to complete an application to be considered for this support. (Applications can be downloaded above, or ask your child's school counselor for one.)
- You can stretch out your $200 of support in many ways.
- Find a camp that is lower cost to begin with - the township camps and vacation bible school programs are great deals - your child can attend many weeks for one low price!
- Many camps offer scholarships and discounts, themselves - but these offers also run out quickly. It is NOT TOO EARLY to apply for them. They are first come-first served. If you know what camp your child would like to attend - check with the camp NOW and apply for their scholarship program. If there is a balance due after your discount - then T&E Care can try to help with that fee (up to around $200).
- The YMCA in Berwyn has a great discount program (Y-Cares) to help reduce the costs of their camps. It also has the broadest list of camps in the area! Be sure to get a Y-Cares application and send it in ASAP to start that process if your child(ren) is interested in attending a Y camp. (It is NOT too early!) Again - we can not afford to cover the entire fee of a Y camp - but can likely help with a balance after your Y-Cares discount. (You can download the application by clicking on the link above or the link at the top of the page.)
- Many camps also offer reduced prices if you sign up before a certain date. Early registration discounts are common for many camps! Pay attention to these dates! If a camp that you'd like your child to attend costs $200 if you sign up before xxx date, and $250 if you sign up after that date, it's hard for us to pay the whole $250.
- As we did last year, we will be posting a list of camps in the immediate area for you to consider, and will try to help with transportation (for up to 2 weeks) as long as you stay local. You can indicate this need on your application, and we'll be in touch for more details.
- We will be listing below a number of local camps that you might want to consider for your child(ren). If you know of any other camps - you are welcome to apply to them as well - we just want your child to have fun at camp somewhere!
- Our checks are made payable to the camps themselves, not to you, so do not send in payment without first checking with us.
Once you complete and return the application - someone from T&E Care will get in touch with you to coordinate our possible assistance. Remember that many camps do fill up early - and our funds are limited - so for the sake of your child - do not delay! If you have any questions feel free to contact us at camp@tecare.org.
