FURNITURE/APPLIANCE/HOUSEHOLD ITEMS REQUESTS From time to time we get requests from families for furniture, appliances, and other household items. Sometimes these items aren't CRITICAL, but they would help the family be more comfortable. Yes - they could just keep the bed on the floor
and skip the frame. And they could skip the washer and just go to the laundromat (except
they don't have a car). Many of the houses in which these families live are VERY small - and the closet space is even smaller (if there even are any closets!). They need items not for decoration but for functionality. If we have learned of such requests - we post them on the homepage. We always appreciate your willingness to offer to help out! If you have something to donate, please be sure the items are clean, they work, and they are in good condition. At any time new items would be appreciated!
T&E Care has no storage facility (other than our own basements or garages) so if we don't have any current requests and you need to get rid of your items quickly - then consider using one of the options listed below.
If you aren't in a rush - send us information about your items - dimensions, general info (ie: the color of a couch), and if possible, a picture. We will then circulate that info among some local residents and see if anyone has a need. If you can store the item yourself - that is great too - we will then get back to you when/if we have someone needing your item.
Most often requested items: vertical dressers, small desks, end tables, lamps.
See home page for any current needs.

OTHER OPTIONS FOR FURNITURE/APPLIANCE DONATIONS
If you have furniture or appliance items to donate, and we have no corresponding needs, then here are a few options to consider:
- If you can store it at your home until a need arises, that would be great! Just let us know so we can add it to our database.
- If you want to recycle an appliance - The PECO Smart Appliance Recycling program removes older refrigerators and freezers from operation as secondary units in homes (ie - the older units in your basement or garage; they must be working). PECO will also pick up a room AC but only if they come to get a refrigerator or freezer. PECO will also PAY YOU $35 for each refrigerator/freezer picked up. AC units pay you $25 each. This is a first come first served program until PECO funds are used up. Call 888-5-PECO-SAVE for questions or go to http://www.pecosmartideas.com/programsandrebates/residential/appliancerecycling.html
- If you need to get rid of
your item now and we can't use it - then a few good suggestions for

No computers, TVs, or magazines.

- Home Furnishings Consignment Store - Gateway Shopping Center, 610-964-1903, donate the furniture to this store, and then when it sells you can donate the sale money to T&E Care! for items they accept and do not accept; they have drop-off hours, and
will come pick up large items of furniture (This is a good option for
buying used items as well!)
- Goodwill - the store in
Berwyn will accept some items; there is a bigger location in Exton; you
need to deliver all items yourself; call 610-594-6949 (Exton) or
610-644-2533 (Berwyn)

- Best Buy will now take old TVs and recycle them. They will charge a $10 fee to take the unit, but will give you a $10 Best Buy gift card in return.
PLEASE - in
ALL cases the furniture, appliances, and items must be in decent shape
and working order. If you have an item for us to consider - please
indicate what it is, the size (dimensions), general style, color, and
any other details that might be helpful. Contact us at stuff@tecare.org. If you have the manual (especially for appliances) that would also be appreciated.
